HOUSTON – This College football year has been crazy. From Conferences not playing to big upsets every weekend. But one of the biggest surprises for me has been watching this BYU football team dominate nearly every weekend. BYU’s contract with ESPN has certainly helped push the narrative this team is on the cusp of something great.
From the jump, Zach Wilson continued to impress. He was 25-35 and went off for 40 yards and 4 TDs. What’s really impressive about Wilson’s play is that BYU’s offensive targets aren’t exactly 5/4 star athletes. He is putting up ridiculous numbers with players that most likely will never play after College. Could you imagine Wilson on a team like USC or Texas? The BYU vs. Houston Cougars game was a competitive battle until the 4th quarter. At one point Houston even had the lead and looked as if they might pull this one out. However, in the 4th BYU put their foot on the accelerator to blow them out. Keep in mind this is only the 2nd game Houston has played. It is entirely possible that they aren’t a very competitive team. Notwithstanding BYU continues to put up impressive numbers.
The analytics company PFF, best known for its College football data provided a top 5 list of the best offenses. Interestingly enough BYU came in at #1. We will see how this changes over the next week but things are looking good.

Listen I am no BYU fan. I honestly thought they were going to get blown out and my -3.5 line would be covered. But as I watched Wilson play there were just so many times I thought this kid is special.

If this is what I can expect to see when watching BYU then call me a fan. This team is exciting and has a QB who is mobile and able to throw. This is an exciting year for BYU and I can’t wait to see what they do next.
