Recent news has confirmed that the Timberwolves are trying to package a deal to acquire Karl Anthony Towns friend D’Angelo Russell. However, what we are hearing out of Arizona is that the Suns are also in hot pursuit of Devin Bookers BFF.
The package we have heard from our sources is the Suns would send Ayton, Tyler Johson (expiring contract), and a draft pick to acquire D’Angelo Russell.
To us, this trade makes a lot of sense. The GSW gets a big that could potentially be a consistent 20/10 player, expiring contracts, and a potential top 10 pick. The GSW will most likely get a good pick this offseason so a trade like this would allow them to reload for next year. The Suns, on the other hand, get a key player that Booker wants to team up with. This will ensure Book doesn’t try to force his way out of Arizona.
For those who may not know Devin Booker, D’Angelo Russell, and Karl Anthony Towns are very close friends. So close that they vacation together and have joked about playing all together one day. Could this be the day the Suns acquire the first piece in their super team?
It comes as no surprise we are hearing this news because Deandre Ayton continues to play inconsistent and does not look like the franchise player the Suns were hoping for. The fear within the organization is that Devin Booker will continue to grow unsettled with losing and demand a trade.
