Charlotte – Joe Person of The Athletic reported that Christian McCaffrey suited up for the first time in over 4 weeks today. McCaffrey’s time-table for return had been 4-6 weeks. However, fantasy owners and fans were both concerned when there hadn’t been any sort of update by the start of week 4. However, I think we can hear their collective sigh of relief that he has started practicing.
If you happen to have McCaffrey on your IR but need an RB to get you through the next two weeks consider Carlos Hyde. Hyde had an incredible game rushing 15 times for 68 yards and a TD. With Chris Carson going down he is going to be an RB 1 for a few weeks.
Getting back to McCaffrey’s injury though. This may have been a blessing in the long run for the Panthers as Mike Davis was able to come into his own. Davis has totaled 70/282/2 on the ground and 29/159/2 receiving over Carolina’s last five games. This should be great news for the Panthers as they have a fantastic back up when McCaffrey comes back. Even better for fantasy players is the fact your boy Christian will be back just in time for that playoff push (looking at your Ben).
#Panthers RB Christian McCaffrey is considered a long-shot to play Thursday vs. the #Falcons, source said, but they haven’t ruled him out and he’s pushing to play. He’ll work his way back into practice and see if he can make enough progress.
