San Francisco 49ers are signing journeyman QB Josh Johnson as a backup (video)

The San Francisco 49ers are planning to sign former Bucs backup QB Josh Johnson through the season. The 49ers have been plagued with injuries and Garoppolo has not looked great. There is talk that the 49ers will be moving on and drafting a new QB this off-season. Josh Johnson is going to make a great addition to the practice team that will help prepare the starters for Sunday.

Johnson has been a member of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, San Francisco 49ers, Sacramento Mountain Lions, Cleveland Browns, Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, Baltimore Ravens, New York Giants, Houston Texans, Oakland Raiders, Washington Redskins, Detroit Lions, and Los Angeles Wildcats. Despite playing for thirteen teams during his NFL career, he did not win his first game as a starter until his 11th season as a member of the Redskins in 2018.
