Sergio Ramos, one of the greatest center backs to ever grace the sport of futbol. This prolific defender boasts the resume of 22 trophies over the span of his 18 year career. To a futbol player, cleats are an essential part of the game. This is why it’s really a shock that Sergio Ramos has only had two cleat deals throughout the time of his career. The first deal was made with Nike some fourteen years ago, and fro that sponsorship there have only been one pair of cleats released for the defender. These are the Corazon y Sangre (heart and blood) Nike Tiempo boots released in 2017.
The cleats were designed to reflect the heart and passion that Ramos has for the game of futbol. The coolest part about these cleats though is the personalization of his initials on the back of the cleat, as well as His affinity for white Andalusian horses inspired the pearl leather colorway. Another area of emphasis for Ramos is family. “Familia” is etched onto the side of each boot. Ramos added, “hambre, carácter, pasión” (hunger, character, passion) along the medial side of the boot’s interior. These words carry great meaning to Ramos as he thinks about his captaincy and the legacy he intends to leave.
Moving on to the second deal; after his deal with Nike ended, Sergio Ramos signed with the Japanese brand Mizuno. Since it’s creation in 1906, Mizuno has been providing the world with apparel, with their mission statement being “We are committed to achieving a sustainable society, by providing happiness for people through the world of Sports”. Ramos signed his shoes deal with this company in 2022; and throughout his first year, can be seen sporting their brand in multiple professional games for the French giants Paris St. Germain.
