Katerina Siniakova is a Czech professional tennis player. She is the current World No.1 in doubles since November 15, 2021. Born to parents, Dmitri Siniakova, a former Boxer and her tennis coach, and Hana Siniakova, an accountant, she began playing tennis at the young age of 5 years. She also has a brother, Daniel Siniakova, who also plays professional tennis.

Early Stages of Tennis Growth
When she was young, she was mentored by WTA legend Helena Sukova who co-founded the Kids and Junior Tennis Advancement Organization in the Czech Republic post-retirement.
Her initial career began when she played a few ITF circuit matches in 2012, winning one double and reaching World No. 2 in the Junior Tennis player rankings by December 2012.
In 2013, she made her first WTA main debut at the Miami Open in Florida. She then went on to win the junior girl’s doubles title at the French Open, Wimbledon and US Open with her fellow Czech, Barbora Krejčíková. In the ITF circuit, she also won four singles titles in that year, marking massive progress in her career.

Katerina made her first Grand Slam debut at the 2014 Australian Open but lost to Zarina Diyas in the first round of the main draw. She reached her first WTA doubles final with Paula Kania at the 2014 Silicon Valley Classic, held between July 26- August 3, but lost to Garbiñe Muguruza and Carla Suárez Navarro.
Being undeterred by this loss, she further won her first WTA doubles title alongside Aleksandra Krunić, at the Tashkent Open in the same year. This propelled her to the Top 100 rankings in doubles, peaking at No. 74 in the rankings chart. Finishing off the year, she won the 2014 Open de Limoges doubles alongside Renata Voráčová.
In July 2016, she reached her first WTA final at the Swedish Open but lost to Laura Siegemund. She also lost the final of the 2016 Japan Open.
But by 2017, she won her first WTA singles title at the Shenzhen Open, defeating Alison Riske in the final match.
Coincidently, she defeated her idol, Maria Sharapova, in the semi-final round of the 2018 Shenzhen Open, reaching the final.
In the same year, she reached her first milestone when she was crowned World No. 1 in doubles alongside Barbora Krejčíková on October 22, 2018, which was cemented by two Grand Slam titles at the French Open and Wimbledon.

Beyond her professional life, Katerina is an avid music lover, with Taylor Swift being her favorite pop artist, as people had pointed out to her of their similarities. She also likes to read science-fiction novels in her spare time and is fluent in both Czech and Russian. In her early stages, she had looked up to Maria Sharapova as her inspiration.
